It’s better to be an agent. Make your own hours, get paid more, and retire earlier.
Underwriters work 9-5 type hours and get paid less.
… But again, Agents get most of their money from commissions. But once you build your book of business, you hire someone to do your work, and sit back and collect the renewals.
Insurance agents get paid commission. It’s great if your a hard worker and a great salesperson, at least for the first 5 years. Then you can hire someone to do that work after that.
An underwriter makes a straight salary. So, it depends on what you need (money) and what your good at. (sales)?
